Dr. Sunil J. Wimalawansa is a full professor of Medicine, Endocrinology & Nutrition and a director in Cardio Metabolic & Endocrine Institute, North Brunswick, USA. His clinical expertise medicine, endocrinology, human nutrition, vitamin D, disease prevention, metabolic diseases, osteoporosis, CKD, and health policies. His seminal innovations include using intra-operative hormone assays to assist tumor location for endocrine surgical procedures (1983), a technique globally recognized as the standard of care by endocrine surgeons.  In 1984, he developed an intra-operative measurement of hormones during surgical procedures, used worldwide as the standard of care. In 2005, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to medicine, science, humanity, and society and the Dr. Oscar Gluck International Humanitarian Award for his philanthropic efforts in 2007. In 2024, he received the prestigious International Public Service Award from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. He received several young investigators' awards from several professional and scientific societies, the Dr. Boy Frame Award for Clinical Excellence in Metabolic Bone Diseases, the American Endocrine Society, the Glen Foundation Awards, and an Innovation Award from the Asian Chamber of Commerce. He served on several national and international scientific review committees, including the NIH, VA, DEA, and NASA.
